Tech Girls Teams
Form a team of 3-5 girls. Identify a problem in your community. Create and code an app to solve that problem with the support of a team of entrepreneurs and mentors.
You and your team will build a mobile app. Winners from Australia and New Zealand will be announced. No prior coding or app experience is necessary.
*Girls ages 7-17 can participate in Technovation
Coaches are parents, guardians or teachers of participating girls who register the team, and are able to provide encouragement and support to their team.
The coach is the point of contact for the team, and coaches provide teams a place to work, and support their interactions with their mentors.
Mentors are women who are industry professionals who feel comfortable supporting teams of girls to participate in the program and helping their teams become leaders. They learn with their teams and help them problem-solve, while also supervising girls through their journey.
Mentors do not need to be tech professionals (although it's great if you do have tech expertise!). Mentors can work with a local team in-person, or be a virtual mentor to a team across the country.
In Australia from March to July, teams participate in the Search for the Next Tech Girl Superhero competition, with a chance to become the State and National winners in Australia and New Zealand.
Teams are then encouraged to submit their entry to the global Technovation Challenge competition before April the following year for another chance to win!
